LIQUID POEMS by Mercurial Pearl

Mercurial Pearl connected with Valentina Castro Valdez through a shared love of texture, beautiful design, and the desire to create. Having just completed the final draft of Liquid Poems, Mercurial Pearl knew Valentina’s distinctive visual language made her the perfect collaborator to bring the book to life.

Together, they set out to create an elegant print piece shaped by themes of water and catharsis. The poems were organized into three chapters/collages—Le Gris, Le Noir and L’Espoir (The Grey, The Black and The Hope).

Valentina led the design and layout with a refined eye for balance and composition. Using fragments from Mercurial Pearl’s collages blended with photographs of textures captured by the artist, she built rich, layered backgrounds.

Experimental typography and fluid layouts invite readers to slow down, wander through different moments.
