MERCURIAL PEARL x Valentina Castro Valdez
We connected over a shared love of textures, beautiful design and the desire to create. Mercurial Pearl had recently finished the final draft of Liquid Poems, and knew from Valentina’s inspirational concept designs that she would be the perfect person to collaborate with on this production.
The objective was to create an elegant book with an overarching theme of water and catharsis. The poems were arranged in three chapters; Le Gris, Le Noir et L’Espoir (The Grey, The Black and The Hope) and Mercurial Pearl was contemplating the best way to incorporate collage.
Valentina directed the design and layout, with an astute understanding of how to combine and balance each element; taking the body of work to another level. Working with paper fragments from collages as well as some of the artist’s own photos of various textures; she began deconstructing everything to build rich background compositions for each page.
Introducing experimental text layouts, the reader is invited to take a journey and immerse themselves in different moods and moments. We wanted to change the way we can experience a book of poems – bringing into existence something more meaningful for us as creators, and ultimately offering an immersive experience to the reader. All products are shipped by Royal Mail tracked every Wednesday.
Special delivery (DHL, UPS, FEDEX) can be arranged. Please send a message through the contact form before purchasing the product and I’ll send you a quote.
I make sure the piece is packed to minimize risk of damage during transport. If damage occurs, it is the customer’s responsibility to arrange compensation from the delivery company.
